Challenges & Mystery Quilt - Quilt Show 2023
We were pleased to highlight our various "challenges" over the last few years and our 2022-2023 Mystery Quilt.
Challenges are projects with a particular theme where you can showcase your creativity and imagination. Issued at the beginning of the quilt year, challenges are open to all of our members.

Block of the Month 2022-2023
This year’s Block of the Month (BOM) featured 12 1/2" blocks (12" finished) that were all made from sixteen Half Square Triangles (HSTs). We made two blocks each month from August to January for a total of 12 blocks. We kept our blocks and then finished our own quilt as desired. Some members made additional blocks for a larger than lap size quilt. The block instructions are posted on our guild web site Block of the Month page.
Mystery Quilt 2022-2023
The instructions for the 4 steps of the Mystery Quilt blocks were published monthly from September 2022 through November 2022, and the final set of assembly instructions in December 2022 revealed the mystery of this traditionally pieced wall hanging sized project.

Mystery Quilt Scrap Challenge 2022-2023
This challenge was to make something from the leftover scraps from the Mystery Quilt. The leftovers included a number of triangles which offered a great starting point. A couple of members elected to add the scraps to their Mystery Quilt to make a larger quilt.
Black and White Challenge 2019-2020
Participating guild members signed up at the September 2019 meeting and were placed in groups. They made 9 1/2" unfinished blocks with black and white fabric, one block for each member of their group. The blocks were then distributed to their group at the December meeting and each participant went home with 10-12 black and white blocks. From these blocks and one or two other colours/fabrics of their choice they made a quilt or other item. This challenge wrapped up at an outdoor meeting in September 2020 in Arnprior's riverside Robert Simpson Park.
Block of the Month 2021-2022
This Block of the Month highlighted blocks from previous years that were randomly selected at each month's guild meeting. The challenge was to find a way to combine these random, unrelated, and different sized blocks into a finished quilt.

Drunkard's Path President's Challenge 2021-2022
Guild president Vickie's challenge in in the fall of 2021 was to:
Create a quilt using the Drunkard's Path units. The Drunkard's Path is a traditional block that features curved piecing. And for fun, add a bit of emerald green to commemorate our guild’s 20th anniversary.
